Many artists used to recommend common antibacterial soaps. Designed to kill all bacteria, these harsh formulas strip away your skin’s vital protective oils and disrupt its natural balance. The result? Dryness, irritation, and a dull-looking tattoo that struggles to heal its best.
❌ FDA 2016: zero proven benefit over plain soap
❌ Strips beneficial skin microbiome
❌ Causes dryness, tightness & irritation
❌ Can dull tattoo vibrancy
❌ Made for hospitals, not tattoos
We don't kill all bacteria—and that's the point. Banger Bars cleanse gently, removing plasma and impurities while supporting your skin's natural balance. Our natural, cold-processed formula nurtures your skin, ensuring a comfortable recovery and a tattoo that heals brighter.

Nobody made soap for tattooed skin. They just told you to use whatever was in the bathroom — antibacterial bar soap, generic body wash, whatever the shop had on hand. And if you have healed enough tattoos with those recommendations, you know exactly what that feels like. The harsh peel. The tight dry skin after every wash. The itching that never seemed proportional to the size of the piece. The aftercare process feeling like a second ordeal on top of the session itself.
We built Banger because that experience did not have to be the standard. Not from a lab. Not from a research brief. From being tattooed — heavily, repeatedly — and knowing that whatever everyone was recommending was not it.
The bar that came out of that is oil-heavy by design. It glides. It rinses clean without leaving your skin feeling stripped or chalky. Your skin feels like skin afterward, not like it just survived something. The aftercare process stops being something you dread and starts being something you barely think about.
The science caught up later. In 2016 the FDA confirmed that antibacterial soap — still the default recommendation on most aftercare sheets — provides zero infection prevention benefit over plain soap. The microbiome research explained why oil-heavy fragrance-free cold-process soap works better at every stage of healing. We did not build Banger around those findings. They just confirmed what 200 hours of tattooed skin had already told us.
Experience the Banger Bar difference for supported healing and enhanced vibrancy.
Nobody made regular soap for tattooed skin. Dial Gold, Irish Spring,
whatever generic bar is in your shower — those were made for intact
skin going about a normal day. A fresh tattoo is a different situation
entirely. The skin barrier is compromised, the microbiome is actively
working, and what you wash with for the next two to three weeks matters
in ways it never does on a regular Tuesday.
Most aftercare sheets still recommend antibacterial soap. In 2016 the
FDA found zero evidence that antibacterial agents prevent infection
better than plain soap — and the microbiome research shows they
actively disrupt the beneficial bacteria that protect healing tattooed
skin. The recommendation has just never been updated to reflect that.
Banger Bars are oil-heavy by design. Forty-two percent natural olive
oil means every wash deposits nourishing fatty acids onto your skin
rather than stripping them away. The bar glides. It rinses clean.
Your skin feels like skin afterward — not tight, not chalky, not like
it just survived a hospital scrub-down.
Regular soap cleans. Banger was built for what comes after the needle
stops.
Yes, our hypoallergenic, natural formula is gentle and effective for sensitive skin and new ink.
Our oil-rich formula keeps skin nourished —
and nourished skin is what keeps ink looking its best.
Our formula is packed with nourishing oils like Coconut, Shea, and Jojoba. These ingredients deeply hydrate the skin, which is crucial for keeping skin consistently nourished through the full healing window and beyond.
Because the FDA found zero evidence they prevent infection better than plain soap — and they disrupt the skin microbiome that actively protects healing tattooed skin. We cleanse through mechanical action and high oil content. The science supports it.
The feel confirms it.
